As Idaho’s land grant university, the University of Idaho has kept education, research and outreach at its core since its inception. But as the economy has diversified and presented new challenges, the university has pursued innovative strategies to engage in Idaho’s economic development. Executive director for economic development Jana Jones leads this effort as part of UI Technology, Innovation and Economic Development, which also includes the Office of Technology Transfer.
The University of Idaho's mission in economic development is to collaborate in creating a vibrant and sustainable economy that improves quality of life and benefits Idaho, the region and beyond. We do this by mobilizing resources to advance innovation, help employers grow and prosper, strengthen communities and regional economies, and create an educated workforce.
The university is developing its strategies for supporting economic development initiatives across the state and region.
